PROGRAM   DESCRIPTION

This course provides students with networking skills to analyse, design and install a Local Area Network.
This incorporates installing and configuring a network, installing network hardware to a network, building an Internet infrastructure, actioning and completing change requests, rectifying system faults on a live system and determining and resolving network problems. The Diploma will build on the skills obtained in the Certificate IV course to delve further into complex network engineering and problem solving.

TEACHING  METHODS

A combination of lecture, tutorial and practical laboratory sessions are used in the delivery of this program.

ASSESSMENT

Assessment is ongoing throughout the course and is based on student participation and demonstration and application of both practical and theoretical elements. Assessment may include examinations, essay / reports, presentations, group projects, design projects, research projects, practical assignments.

DURATION

Diploma: 15 Months , full-time (8 terms) 83 weeks
Certificate IV: 10 months, full-time (4 terms) 43 weeks
Please note: Part-time study is not available to international students.

ENTRANCE   REQUIREMENTS

Applicants must be a minimum of 18 years and have an appropriate English proficiency level.

STUDY  PATHWAYS

Hales Institute accepts Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) statement of attainment by Registered Training Organisations (RTO’s). Credit exemptions will be given for units where appropriate certification is produced.

PROFESSIONAL   RECOGNITION

The Diploma of Information Technology (Network Engineering) is a formal qualification recognised throughout Australia. In addition, students completing this course are eligible for associate membership with the Australian Computer Society (ACS).

CAREER   PROSPECTS

Graduates will enjoy employment as computing professionals in a diverse range of networking fields which typically include: Network administration/engineering and client support. Workplaces of our graduates can include computer organisations, government departments and specialist networking organisations and small to medium businesses.
